Near Kongens Nytorv, walking distance from Nyhavn. Industrial concrete meets Scandinavian wood — common areas feel more boutique hotel than backpacker. Cafe has good wifi mornings, gets social by afternoon. The kind of hostel where you can be invisible or social, your choice.

Reykjavik Downtown Hostel

Reykjavik, Iceland · €45/night

Central location on Laugavegur — you're walking distance from everything that matters. Iceland is expensive, so €45 for a hostel bed is actually reasonable. The common kitchen saved me hundreds. Great base for Northern Lights tours and South Coast day trips.

Old Town Apartment

Tallinn, Estonia · €35/night

Inside the UNESCO Old Town walls — cobblestone streets outside your window. Fast wifi, quiet workspace, and a kitchen that made long stays easy. Tallinn is massively underrated, and at €35/night for a full apartment, it's one of the best value stays in Europe.

Pärnu Beach Hotel

Pärnu, Estonia · €40/night

I originally booked one night but had to stay for more after walking the beach. Estonia's summer capital surprised me — the beach, the old town, the pace of life. The hotel was clean and functional, nothing fancy, but the city made up for it.

Old Harbor Studio

Chania, Greece · €38/night

Steps from the old harbor and the lighthouse walk. Crete changed my relationship with the sun — and this studio was the base for it. Small but well-designed, with a terrace that caught the evening light. Take wine to the lighthouse at sunset. Trust me.

Hostel Mostel Sofia

Sofia, Bulgaria · €15/night

At €15/night, Sofia is one of the cheapest cities in Europe to stay. The hostel is basic but clean, with a good social atmosphere. I came to appreciate this historic city — laid-back vibe, interesting architecture, incredible history dating back thousands of years.

Prague Central Hostel

Prague, Czech Republic · €20/night

One of the best cities for beginner solo travelers — endless things to see, cheap beer, very walkable. The hostel was well-located near Old Town Square. Social atmosphere without being overwhelming. Prague proves you don't need a big budget to travel well.
