Athens
Athens is a city that rewards patience. The Acropolis is as impressive as advertised — see it at sunrise if you can. Beyond the obvious, the neighbourhoods of Monastiraki, Psirri, and Exarcheia each have their own character. The food scene is excellent and the city has a creative energy that's easy to miss if you only do the tourist circuit.
